SeaWorld Annual Pass Auto-Renewal Settlement: $1.5M

California residents who purchased a SeaWorld San Diego annual pass through the park’s website or app on or after February 28, 2019, and whose pass automatically renewed after the initial 12-month term but before February 28, 2025—without a refund for the first auto-renewal charge.

SeaWorld has agreed to a $1.5 million class action settlement following allegations it failed to comply with California’s automatic renewal law for annual pass subscriptions.

The lawsuit claims SeaWorld charged California customers for annual pass renewals without providing clear notice or properly disclosing the terms. According to plaintiffs, consumers were automatically billed after their initial 12-month commitment ended but were not informed of the renewal or given a chance to cancel before the charge.

SeaWorld denies any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to put the dispute to rest.

Under the Terms of the Settlement

Class members will receive a pro rata share of the $1.5 million fund. Payment amounts will depend on how many valid claims are processed.

Class members who received notice by mail will be able to choose whether they want their payment via paper check or electronic transfer. No claim form is required—eligible consumers will automatically receive their payment if they do not exclude themselves.
